FAQs
Do you ship internationally, including Australia?
Yes! We happily ship all over the world. The price will be determined by the size of your order, but we do everything we can to keep the price as low as possible. All of our products are Gluten free, with the exception of our Dream Cream, Hand Butter, and Tinted Moisturizer. These products contain a small amount of Wheat Germ Extract in the botanical blend.
Are all of Sally B's product organic?
While we are not Certified Organic, we use Certified Organic ingredients whenever they are available. For example, we use Vitamin E in our products, which is not available in an organic form. The end result is that most of our products are at least 90% organic (please see individual products for specific information).
Why should I use "green" products?
Sally has a wonderful, basic analogy for helping people understand that whatever we put on our skin ends up in our bloodstream and entire bodies: a transdermal medical patch. Think of a Nicotine, testosterone, estrogen, or any number of drugs and/or hormones that are administered via a think sticker placed on the skin. Our skin is a large, breathable tissue, absorbing everything that we lather on.
The average woman uses 12 personal care products a day and from those products your body is exposed to more than 126 potentially toxic chemicals, including carcinogens and hormone disruptors. Even though we use a small amount of these products each day, the cumulative exposure can be shocking to overall health.
The surprising truth about the skincare industry is that there is absolutely no government regulation on the ingredients used or packaging standards to require companies to list all ingredients. There are currently 12,500 ingredients used in skincare products, but the United States has tested only 11% and banned only 8. Tellingly, the European Union has banned 1,100 ingredients, labeling them as hazardous chemicals.
To ensure you're using the healthiest products for your skin and overall health, commit yourself to purchasing products made with natural and organic ingredients. Insist on knowing all the ingredients that are used in your skincare products and researching their toxicity on the EWG'S Cosmetics Database.
What do you mean when you say Skin Yummies are people and planet friendly?
Sally, based on her own health crusade, learned several years ago how certain ingredients are potentially toxic or hormone-altering and how others are not. She has kept up with research and avoids harmful ingredients like parabens, petroleum (and its byproducts like Mineral Oil), artificial fragrance and colors. She creates each product with ingredients that are not harmful, but rather beneficial to your skin and overall health.
And just like Sally B's products are safe and non-toxic for the skin, they are also healthy for the planet. Every time you wash your face you are sending the runoff from your makeup down the drain and into our water ways, so by using Sally B's products you are ensuring that no potentially toxic chemicals are introduced to our natural systems.
When shopping for beauty products, what should I look for to ensure I'm getting a healthy product?
Because the skin care industry is not regulated by any governing body, product manufacturers are not required to list all their ingredients on their product packaging. This means it is up to us to self-police the industry. While we are busy researching ingredients - pointing out the harmful and using the beneficial - it's your responsibility to read labels of the products you are using. Discontinue using products with harmful ingredients and support the companies who go out of their way to create healthy products.
We recommend that you avoid the following ingredients: Parabens, PEG, Ceteareth, Polyethylene, Sodium Laurel Sulfate, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, DMDM hydantoin, Urea, Tricolsan (in liquid soap), Triclocarban (in bar soap), Formaldehyde, Toluene, Dibutyl phtalate (DPB), Oxybenzone (in sunscreens), Retinyl palmitate (not to be confused with Retinol palmitate) and artificial fragrance/parfumes and colors.
